What it does

Step sequencer with a PolyBLEP synth engine and an SF2 SoundFont voice path. Stack drums, bass, leads, pads, plucks, brass, and FM voices on a grid, or open the piano roll and draw melodies note by note. Load the bundled demo, render a stereo WAV mixdown, save the project as JSON, load it back later. Optional General MIDI SoundFont (about 30 MB) for sampled voices when you want a sound beyond the procedural synth.

Why it exists

Most browser sequencers do not load SF2. Most SF2 players do not sequence. Beat Forge does both, runs entirely in your tab, and never touches an account or a server. Procedural-first, with SoundFont as the optional upgrade. No AI.

How to use
  1. 01Hit Play (or press Space). The default kit loops a blank pattern at 120 BPM.
  2. 02Click cells in the grid to lay drums. Each click cycles velocity, right-click clears.
  3. 03Add a melodic track (Bass, Lead, Pad, Pluck, Brass, FM) with + Add Track. Cells on melodic tracks default to C4, right-click any active cell to pick a different note.
  4. 04Switch to Piano Roll to draw melodies note by note across five octaves.
  5. 05Load SoundFont to upgrade voices to sampled General MIDI sounds. About 30 MB, lazy loaded.
  6. 06Save Project to download a JSON recipe of the song. Load Project loads it back.
  7. 07Render WAV to bounce the full arrangement to a stereo 16-bit WAV.
