Sheet Forge
Free online tileset composer and sprite sheet builder. Compose from many sources, tile by tile.
Load one or more source images as tabs. Click and drag to select a rectangular region of tiles on the active source, Ctrl-click to toggle a single tile, Shift-click to add to the existing selection. Send the selection to an output panel where you can drag tiles around to rearrange them, delete them, flip them horizontally or vertically, rotate by 90 degree increments, shift the hue by any amount from 0 to 360 degrees, tag them, and export the whole sheet as a PNG. A 2x upscale toggle ships 16 pixel art straight to 32 pixel without leaving the tool.
Game projects accumulate tilesets from many sources, in many sizes. Cherry-picking the tiles you actually need and stitching them into one engine-ready sheet usually means hopping into a paint program and counting pixels. Sheet Forge is that workflow without the side trip. Originally built into the Loregend engine editor, ported here so anyone can use it.
- 01Set the tile width and tile height in the top bar. These are the source tile dimensions in pixels.
- 02Hit Load Image to pick one or more PNGs. Each loaded sheet becomes a tab. The active source canvas shows it with a grid overlaid at your current tile size.
- 03Click and drag to box-select tiles on the source. Ctrl-click toggles a single tile, Shift-click adds to the existing selection, Ctrl+A selects all. Scroll wheel zooms, middle drag pans.
- 04Hit Add to Output to push the selection into the output panel. Repeat for as many tiles and as many sources as you want.
- 05On the output panel, click a tile to select, drag a box to select many, Ctrl-click to toggle. Drag a selected tile to move the whole group around. Delete or hit Remove Selected to drop tiles.
- 06Open the Transform inspector below to flip H/V, rotate 90 degrees CW or CCW, shift hue in 30 or 90 degree steps, or tag the selection with a free-text label.
- 07Toggle 2× Upscale if your tiles are 16-pixel art and you want the export at 32-pixel without resampling. Hit Export PNG when you are happy.
- Nothing leaves your machine. No upload, no server, no account. All slicing and compositing runs in your browser canvas.
- Output is capped at 4,096 tiles and source sheets are capped at 16,384 tiles. If a slice would blow past the limit, the tool will tell you to use a larger tile size instead.
- Changing tile width or height re-slices every loaded source against the new grid. Output tiles already placed keep their source pixel coordinates, so a mid-project tile size flip can misalign things. Pick a tile size before you go heavy.
- Refreshing the page wipes loaded sources and the output grid. Export PNG before you close the tab.

Is Sheet Forge free?
Yes, completely free. No account, no upload, no watermark on the exported sheet.
How do I combine multiple tilesets into one sheet?
Load each source as its own tab, box-select the tiles you want from each, and Add to Output. The output panel is where you arrange them into the final composite sheet. Export the whole thing as a single PNG.
Can it slice a sprite sheet into individual tiles?
Yes — set the tile width and height, load the sheet, and the source canvas overlays a grid at that tile size. Drag-select the tiles you want and Add to Output, or Ctrl+A to grab everything.
What transforms can I apply to selected tiles?
Flip horizontal, flip vertical, rotate 90° CW or CCW, hue-shift in 30° or 90° steps, and free-text tag. Useful for getting four-directional variants out of one source tile, or recoloring an enemy palette without leaving the tool.
Can I upscale 16-pixel art to 32-pixel for export?
Yes. Toggle 2× Upscale before Export PNG. Tiles are nearest-neighbor scaled, so the result stays crisp instead of blurring.
Are there size limits?
Output is capped at 4,096 tiles and source sheets are capped at 16,384 tiles. If a slice would blow past that, the tool tells you to use a larger tile size instead.
What format is the export?
PNG, packed in the grid you arranged in the output panel. The exported sheet drops straight into Unity, Godot, Phaser, LÖVE, or any engine that takes PNG tileset input.
Where do my source images go?
Nowhere. All slicing and compositing runs in your browser canvas. Refreshing the page wipes loaded sources, so Export PNG before you close the tab.
