Image Converter takes any common image format (PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF, SVG) and re-encodes it to JPG, PNG, or WebP. Drop a single file or a whole batch — every file in the batch converts to the same target. JPEG and WebP get a quality slider; PNG is lossless. Per-file size deltas show whether the new format is smaller or larger than the source.

- Converting INTO JPG flattens transparency to a white background, since JPG can't store an alpha channel. Pick PNG or WebP if you need transparency preserved.
- Converting INTO PNG is lossless but won't usually shrink the file (PNG is not a compression tool). Pick PNG when you need transparency or want a universally compatible lossless output.
- Converting INTO WebP at quality 90 is usually the smallest format the browser can produce while still looking pristine.
- SVG input is rasterized at its declared size before encoding. The output is a raster image, not an SVG.
- Quality slider only fires on lossy targets (JPG, WebP).

What formats can I convert between?

Can I convert HEIC files from my iPhone?
Not directly — browsers don’t ship a HEIC decoder. Export the HEIC to JPG or HEIF on the phone first (iOS Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible) and then convert here if you need WebP or PNG.
What happens to transparency when I convert to JPG?
JPG can't store transparency, so any transparent pixels in your source become solid white in the output. If you need transparency preserved, pick PNG or WebP instead.
Will PNG output be smaller than the source?
Usually not. PNG is lossless, so re-encoding doesn’t shrink it the way JPG or WebP do. Pick PNG when you need a universally compatible lossless format or when transparency matters more than file size.
Can I convert a folder of images all at once?

What about converting to AVIF or HEIC?
Browser MediaRecorder + Canvas encoders don't ship AVIF or HEIC output paths uniformly across all browsers yet. Pick WebP — it's nearly as small as AVIF and supported everywhere modern.
Does it preserve EXIF / camera metadata?
No. Canvas re-encoding strips EXIF, GPS, camera tags, and color profiles. That's a privacy win for most workflows and a loss if you needed the metadata.
